Australia, 2000, Newcastle Beach, Newcastle.
Noel sighed as he looked out across the sea. The twinkling stars and moon's reflections were wobbling on the water's surface.
The moon...a voice in his head.
"I'm the moon..."
That was his own voice doing an Eastern-European accent, face covered in shaving cream. The moon.
That was a section of the show they were doing. That was why they were here.
Newcastle Beach...
He sighed again, the cold and slightly salty air filling his lungs. What was this feeling he had in the pit of his stomach? Why had he burst into tears trying to go to sleep in the van earlier?
He drew his knees up to his chest and folded his arms on top of them. The gentle rolling of the waves and cawing of the gulls kept him awake; it was after all, 1 am.
Maybe the feeling in his stomach was-no; couldn't be. He couldn't be homesick...
He was a grown man, he just couldn't...

Earlier, Julian lay silently in the van's driver seat that was tilted back enough so he could attempt getting sleep. They were meant to be in a hotel room but forgot to book a place before arriving in this country. So the van was parked in the car park, which overlooked the beach (and was close to the theatre.)
The only noises that could be heard were the crashing of the waves and the engines of the cars that passed the road behind. The occasional screeching of tyres as well if you had your amateur driver, perhaps even drunk at this hour.
Suddenly Noel sat up, tugged his coat off the back of the chair he was in, opened the passenger door and jumped out. Without shoes, he ran down the slope of sheer pointy rocks, obviously not caring if his feet got cut, by the speed he was going. He hurled himself off the edge of the cement walk way and onto the soft, and currently cold sand. Using all of his remaining energy, he ran down the beach.
Julian got out and locked the van, following Noel's speedy path, but taking more care not to slice his feet silly.
Hopping onto the sand, he saw the footprints Noel had made and followed them.

Noel curled his toes in the sand, the chilly air of night piercing his skin. He leant his forehead onto his crossed arms and felt his eyes watering. Trying his absolute hardest to hold it back, he made it worse and began to cry.
Sobbing as quietly as he could, luckily he'd gotten away from the van so no one...especially Julian... would see him.

Julian stopped running, cold air hurting his lungs as he drew deep breaths. He looked at Noel's hunched form sitting further along; his shoulders, jerking up and down ever so slightly as if he were...was he...was he crying?
Julian walked over to his comedy partner, and placed a hand on his shoulder. Noel knew it was Julian, the familiar warmth and feeling of security breezed through him and the sobbing subsided and was reduced to sniffles.

'D'you mind if I sit here?' Julian asked finally, his creamy voice almost being a painkiller for Noel.
Noel shook his head.
Of course I don't mind.
'Are you OK?' Julian said as he sat beside Noel, sand edging its way up his trousers for sure.
Noel nodded and tried to wipe the tearstains on his cheeks away with his sleeve.
Obviously, Julian didn't believe he was just fine.
'Why are you out here?'
'I-I don't know.'
I didn't want you to see me cry.
'Come on, Noel. Surely you wouldn't just leap out of the van, and sit here on the beach for no reason in the middle of the night.'
'I-'
I just want to go home.
Julian moved closer to the younger man.
'I'm worried about you...'
Julian looked at the scene Noel was witnessing earlier. It was nothing like home, this place. Sand covered beaches, no pebbles. The night sky was pretty, scattered with stars. A sea breeze wafting across; making them shiver.
'You haven't been yourself since we got on that plane.'
Ick, the plane trip. Noel remembered looking out the small oval shaped windows, out to the world below. How his stomach lurched at the thought of being way up in the sky, going to a completely different place in the world. He had missed London at that point and onwards...
'Why were you...crying though?' Julian asked, using a tone that, to Noel, said he didn't have to answer that. But his sense of concern swayed Noel into mumbling a small sentence.
'I feel sick.' Were the small words of the younger man with the odd locks.
'Sick?' Julian pressed.
'Home...sick.' He muttered with an air of humiliation and shame.
'Aww.' Julian wasn't expecting that, but it was understandable. He looked at a small seagull that had landed nearby and was waddling it's way over to them.
'Yeah...we're not in London anymore...' Julian half laughed as the gull stared at them with its small, beady peepers. He moved closer to Noel, picking up the coat beside him and draping it over his skinny frame. Holding onto Noel with one arm, staring at the sea.
'Home, Noel, isn't a building that holds all your stuff.'
He cleared his throat.
'Home is where you're surrounded by people who care about you...people who love you.'
Like I do.
Julian turned and gave Noel a sincerely sweet smile, trying to make him feel better without any further words.
Noel trembled as Julian smiled. He studied his clean-shaven best friend, the closest person to him.
He tilted his head to the side and leant forward slowly, parting his lips, eyes slipping closed as his mouth came into contact with Julian's.
Noel brought his hand up to rest on the side of Julian's face as they kissed gently, small noises of skin brushing. Noel's tongue had an evident lusty taste, which Julian relished, pulling Noel closer with his arm. The tenderness of it all was overwhelming as they expressed love for each other wordlessly.
Then Noel broke away shyly, opening his eyes and looking into Julian's, the dark brown irises contrasting his own bright blue. He dipped his head down to rest on Julian's shoulder and he felt a second arm hold him tightly.
Neither said anything. It was unnecessary. They knew each other well enough to know their feelings were completely accepted, and returned.
Noel felt a lot better as he sat on the beach, in Julian's arms, now knowing that whenever he was with Julian, he was home.
