This post is primarily aimed at our newer members, though I strongly urge all members to read this as it contains details of a few changes to the way the haven is run.

First of all, welcome to the Boosh Slash Haven. We have always regarded ourselves as one of the friendliest slash fandoms around and with your help, we will always remain so. This post is intended to outline the posting guidelines in the kingdom of gheydom, and tell you all you need to know about writing fanfiction for the BSH.

Dear BSH, is our layout broken? It's not looking right on my end.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has participated so far in our prompt post, which is open and going strong for those who want to play over the weekend. You guys rock harder than The Black Tubes!

Also, at the request of several community members, anonymous commenting has been temporarily enabled for the prompt post only. Misuse of this (commenting on other entries, leaving abusive comments, your typical disclaimer) will result in it being turned back off. Have fun! C:

Hello all!

As you may have noticed, the BSH is about to reach 2,000 members! If anyone has any ideas for how we might celebrate this milestone, be it by fic exchange, friending meme, free-for-all or anything else, feel free to comment and let us modly-types know.

Also, for newer members (and some older members who may be out of practice), please refer to our Guidelines post for information on posting here, including what belongs in headers, what content requires warnings, how to use lj-cuts, and more. It is never necessary to warn for slash content in this community.

I've noticed a lot of people being lax with things like tagging and headers lately. Please remember that although this is a very laid back community, it's still a largely public place, and we want things to be neat, organized and relevant just like any good community would.

Thank you! :3

Hope all you electro boys and girls are enjoying 2011 so far!

I just wanted to mention a few things, as we have had so many new members join our community recently:

- If you are attempting to join with a new account, you must validate your email address with LJ before you can be added to a community. If your membership request has been rejected more than once, this is most likely the reason why.

- We don't want to reject any Boosh fans, however old or new they are to LJ. But it would be helpful if, before requesting membership, you could update your journal or profile, or upload some userpics, even if it's only once, to let us know that you're an actual person. This way we can be sure we aren't just adding spambot after spambot.

- Some members aren't using proper headers to post. Headers not only make individual posts easier to read and keep the community neat, but are particularly important when posting 18+ material. Please refer to our FAQ and Guidance Post and familiarize yourselves.

- This is a slash community. It is not necessary to warn for slash content here. Warning for things such as "boys kissing" implies that such content is offensive. It isn't. Again, you can visit the FAQ and Guidance Post for a list of themes we do request you warn for.

If you have any other questions/comments/concerns, feel free to comment here and I will do my best to address them. You can also use the comment section to get to know your fellow members better. Have fun!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled slash.

Hello dozy badgers!

I am pleased and happy to announce the winner to Challenge 25!

Congratualtions to [livejournal.com profile] huntingsnarks for the fic 'How Naboo Stole Christmas'. Well done!

The fic can be found here: http://community.livejournal.com/booshslashhaven/799568.html

In my last post, I mentioned that I might start up a new challenge very soon: more on this to follow!
[identity profile] justwolf.livejournal.com
Hello sleepy otters!

On the 30th of January 2009, I opened a challenge. For a number of reasons, I inexcusably never closed the challenge or announced a winner. For that reason I would like to link to the three entries that challenge received now. I hope that some of you guys will read them, and vote on them. I would love to finally close this challenge that I so negligently abandoned and announce a winner.

This would be a great opportunity to read these older fics, as some newer members may not have been around when they were posted.

As well as that, I would quite like to start a new challenge at some point, as I feel these are a good way of making the community more lively and interactive. However, it's been over a year since we had a challenge so you may no longer be interested. If you are interested, you could comment with an idea for a new challenge and I'll mull it over and maybe set one up.

I can't apologise enough for abandoning that previous challenge. It was very unfair of me. If we do have another challenge I promise I won't behave in this manner again.

COMMENTS ARE SCREENED. PLEASE VOTE IN COMMENTS. I'll close the voting in a week (Sunday 3rd Oct)

Thank for reading!

ETA: To answer a question, fanart has always been an accepted as an entry to a challenge. We even had a fanvid win one competition!

Previous challenges can be found by clicking the 'tags' link in the sidebar, and going to the tags for challenges 1-24.

Heads up!

Just FYI, there will be a Free For All post going up at the Haven later on this week. The purpose of this is to encourage active members to have fun, get to know each other better and discuss all manner of things, Booshy and otherwise. We'll also be taking suggestions/questions regarding the comm and getting our newer members up to speed. FUN, RIGHT?

Suggestions for preferred day/time of the FFA welcome in comments.

Prince Vince thanks you for your time.

By the time I've posted this, a member will probably have left. But for the moment, welcome to all new members and thank you for making this community grow.

We now have 1500 members. I honestly can't believe it's got to this stage.

Comment on this post to celebrate and welcome all newcomers.

And finally, I am no longer a 'hands-on' mod, I simply don't have the time anymore. But I would absolutely love it if everybody could take a look at this post to familiarise yourself with our guidelines.

Is 2000 wishing for too much? Very probably, but for now, YAY!

Hello everybody!
I am aware that the layout is broken at the moment, and I'm trying my best to work it out!

ETA: Fixed now!

Hello you cheeky porcupines!

Here at the BSH we are currently looking for new moderators.

The main job of moderators is to approve or reject new members and submissions to the community. They also must be very clear on all our rules. As this is quite a big community, this can sometimes be quite a big job. If you feel like this is something you would be interested in doing, please apply by commenting to this entry.

(1)If you are primarily a writer you should apply by stating what kinds of fic you like and by linking to one of the stories you have written.
(2)If you a primarily a beta then you should apply by stating what kinds of fic you like and by linking to one story you have beta'd.
(3)If you are neither of the above then you should apply by stating what kinds of fic you like and linking to one fic you really enjoyed.

It would be helpful if you could also mention whether or not you are over 18 and how much spare time you would be able to devote to the comm. If you add in an idea for a new challenge for the BSH in your application, then you definitely get brownie points! :)

Hello! I expect you're all tired of me now.

It can hardly have escaped your attention that there has been an increase in drabble posting recently. The majority of these have come from [livejournal.com profile] boosh_shorts.

I have no objection to drabbles as they are fanfic and nearly always slash. In order to save our post traffic and to avoid getting more and more posts per day of one-drabble entries, might I suggest for those of you who write drabbles that you save your drabbles until you have a minimum of say six drabbles and then submit them all in one post?

EDIT: I am reliably informed that four is a much better number. Four-drabble rule? Opinions, etc?

Does this sound reasonable? Please feedback.
[identity profile] justwolf.livejournal.com
Yes, that's right my fellow Dirty Jazzers, it's finally time for A NEW CHALLENGE!

As it's the end of the Boosh tour, it seems like high time for the boys and their characters to have a holiday. So write a fic, make a vid, or create some fan-art on the theme of holiday! You can take this theme in any direction you like: as a holiday from the real world, a holiday from one kind of life to another, or the more traditional shaman-on-the-beach-with-turbans-full-of-alcohol kind of holiday.

So slather yourself in sun-screen, buy a new bikini, and bask in this theme BEFORE Sunday, the First of March, 2009 when this challenge will close.

Remember to head your entry with 'Fic Challenge 24'. You may submit no more than two entries, and please check the new Posting Guidance before submitting your entry. If you are submitting fanfiction, then please use a beta. If you have any further questions, please comment below and I'll get back to you asap.

Also, I'd be very happy to hear suggestions for future challenges! If you think you have a good idea then email me at justwolf[at]ymail[dot]com and I and the other mods will consider it.

Wotcha! It's mid November, and that can only mean one thing: The next month is December. And one day in December in fact is a very special day indeed. It's a day dedicated to love and giving and receiving, etc, etc.

That day is December the 13th. Which will be the first 'official' and I use that term in the loosest sense possible International Boosh Slash Day. This day commemorates the first transmission date of 'Party' on BBC3. I was supposed to organise a shindig or gathering, but it was a logistical nightmare, and er, I failed.

Instead, there are no strict challenges devoted to this wondrous day, but I thought if I gave you advance notice, you could all either write a little slashy something, make a cute lovey dovey video, make icons, graphics, post fanart or post picspams showing the slash wonder and then on this special day, everyone can post all of their stuff individually. Or perhaps I should ask you all to email it to me and I'll make one giant masterlist type post, what do you reckon?

Also, out of curiosity, how many of you will be attending the Brighton gig on this date?

It's the THIRD birthday of Boosh Slash Haven!!

This means you have an opportunity to celebrate with us by re-posting/linking us to anything to do with Boosh Slash that you have particularly 'enjoyed' over the past 12 months!!

You can post a link to a fic, or maybe share some art or a screencap/image (or three), or even a quote from an interview that sums up what you feel has been the best of Boosh Slash over the past 12 months. Head up your post: "Happy Birthday BSH!"

Thanks to you all for continuing to be a great, friendly, talented bunch of shifty-eyed ball-lickers! So go on, SLASH US UP!!

Good day to you, Delightful Slashers!

So, the warm-up gigs for the forthcoming Boosh Tour are underway. No doubt there is many a moment of ghey that we shall all want to witness when the tour starts properly.

HOWEVER, for those who do not wish to hear about or witness such wonderful slashy goodness (and we're hoping there is PLENTY), PLEASE could you place any Tour Slashiness UNDER A CUT so as to prevent any SPOILERISING for the rest of us.

Speaking for myself, I am going to attempt avoiding the Forums and any other Boosh comms between now and when I see the tour in Dublin (in FOUR WEEKS!). I'll be like one of 'The Likely Lads' in that episode where they spend all day trying to avoid the football scores...*shows age*

Thanking you!
