Once, Jones got so unbelievably wasted that he fell over and cut himself on the shards of his pint glass. He watched intently as the steady flow of blood trickled down his arm, like glistening rubies trying to escape from beneath his skin. He tried to tell Dan this, but somehow he didn’t appreciate the beauty, and started babbling about emergencies and phone calls. Jones doesn’t remember much else of the night, after that. What he does remember though, is waking up the next morning with a bandage wrapped around his wrist, and Dan’s strong arms wrapped around his waist.
