Betas for 2009 - updated 09-10-21

I was thinking, how up to date is the current post of betas? I know it was recently updated, but I've got the feeling there might be people on that list who are not active or up for it anymore. I'm always quite nervous myself about contacting people about beta'ing, and it would help if I knew that they were still around, if that makes sense.

I don't profess to be the greatest writer in the world at all, but I have a pretty fair knowledge of grammar etc., and have been writing/beta-ing now for quite a few years, so I'm reasonably experienced. I'm pretty friendly too, and I'll always try to point out what I've changed and why.

I've got a full time job now so am less available than I was before. But I don't mind taking on the odd fic now and again. While I don't mind reading RPF I hardly ever write it and find the characterisation much harder than with FPF, so I'd prefer Howard/Vince over Noel/Julian etc.

I'm pretty good at concrit as well as spelling/grammar errors. I tutored freshman comp at my college for three years so I feel "qualified".

I'm American but I can Britpick a tad bit, and I'm a spelling/grammar freak. FPS + RPS = good, kinky is fine. Throw that AU at me! Any genre, rating, and pairing except explicit Nabollo-- cos I don't want to know that much about gorilla anatomy, really. And preferably, no crazy OOC teenage melodrama (unless it's cos Noel gets his first period, which is totally ok.)

But anything RPS, MR, Nathan Barley, or AU is good by me (or if you think your Booshfic is REALLY on character). No weeplay, mpreg or non-con plz.

I'd like to beta too, if it wasn't because I still do quite some mistakes myself and I would probably not be of much help. I've beta'd in other fandoms before, but only for people who have English as their second or third language.
