I seem to recall a clip of just Julian doing stand up, from around the same time, and his accent is quite strong...I couldn't get enough of the way he said "butter".

This is one of my favorites! All the touching is pretty fantastic, and when they go offstage holding hands?! Le sigh.

Also, Julian is in top form - he's so adorkable. Thanks for giving me an excuse to watch this again (and again and...).

Also, I love the bit about how Ju's taught Noel everything he knows - when you listen to early Boosh stuff, like the radio show, so many of Ju's voices are similar to one's Noel ends up doing and Ju sort of abandons. I like thinking of Noel as his little adoring protege ;)

In a way he is Ju's little protege though. Julian was on the comedy circuit long before Noel, then Noel saw him an went all stalker-fangirl-like and then they fell in love.

A true love story.

(You know it occurs to me that if someone ever wrote a fic about how they met, using canon as a base, spaning many years, it would be EPIC.)

Oh, totally. Hearing them talk about the beginnings of their friendship/partnership totally make me squee...

When I did stand-up, Noel used to come to my gigs. I didn't really know who he was, but I used to see him there with his funny haircut. The first time we really met was when I had gig in Chalk Farm. Someone had dropped out and I said he should fill in. He did something before I went on, and he was pretty amazing. That was really annoying and I slightly regretted asking him to do it. We drove to his house afterwards and he said that I could come in but I'd never be allowed to leave. I told him that was all right " I didn't have much on. So that was how it started.

The first time I saw Julian do stand-up I thought he was amazing. I tried to speak to him but he was very weird " serious, odd, slightly aloof. I probably freaked him out by bounding over. The next time I saw him I was with five friends who were girls. I think this gave me more credence, so we went for a drink, and the next day he rang me up to see if I wanted to write a TV show.


I'm actually working on a wee little fic sort of dealing with this, when they first met, and I've been wanting to make a post asking for more canon info so I don't flub anything up, but you're right, a long epic fic would be AMAZING! It'd be so interesting to explore it from both of their POVs, Noel sort of hero-worshiping Julian, learning from him, and the point where Noel sort of supercedes him, even though they're a team, they're not nearly so connected, and I wonder how that felt for Julian as Noel became more popular, more Vince...

Oh noes! Here I had this like two page cute little fic I was going to do about the night they first officially met, and now...Now I'm being attacked by rabid pink plot bunnies...

Revelation to me how many odd noises and silly shapes Julian is pulling- in fact, Noel comes across as the straight/ older man of the comedy pairing here! How things change... And how young and innocent they are- criminy.
I love Noel's held wide-eyed expression at the end- so... rabbit-in-headlights-of-a-car-give-us-ya-money-NOW!... er...

Makes me imagine a cute little slash story where they were together and all touchy and cute then the chemistry went wrong and now Ju is all "don't touch me. don't ever touch me. not here, not when we're out buying... hammocks."
oh my goodness they should have broken up while buying hammocks.
Noel broke Ju's heart and then tried to hug him and Ju went "don't touch me" and that's when it all started. Aw it's all so sad.
