This was originally planned for this month's
boosh_shorts challenge: Fashion. I promised fluff after my last month's angsty entry.
But I couldn't get it down to 100 words, so it ended up a ficlet instead.
Title: Patching up
Author: Aeneus
Pairing: Howard/Vince
Rating: G
Word count: 325
Notes: Thanks to
twonk_a_bella for looking it over ♥.

"Look at it!" Vince squeaked indignantly, waving his brand new shirt in Howard's face. "It's ruined."
Howard squinted, raised an eyebrow, but ultimately failed to join Vince in his outrage.
"I can't go out now!" Vince added, seeing Howard was not appreciating the seriousness of the situation.
"You can wear something else, surely."
"You don't understand," Vince huffed. "I wanted to wear this." His voice trailed off under Howard's uncomprehending gaze. It had looked so nice when he had tried it on in the shop; the different layers all catching the light in different ways, making him look like a big sparkle. Just wearing it had lifted his mood. He'd been looking forward all day to wearing it out that night, only to get his scissors caught as he had gone to take off the tag.
Disappointed, he dropped the damaged garment in Howard's lap and sulked off to the bedroom. He wasn't sure what to do once he was there. What did people do on a Saturday night if they were not going out? It was too early to go to bed and he had read all the Charlie books on his shelf. He guessed he could go watch telly with Howard, but he didn't want to go back out. Howard probably thought he was being childish and Vince wasn't feeling up to facing Howard's scorn.
Thirty minutes later, a timid knock on the door interrupted Vince's self-pity party. Howard stood outside the door; the shy, apologetic smile on his face immediately melting through Vince's earlier resentment.
"Here," Howard said, thrusting arms full of shiny fabric back at Vince, before turning away to busy himself in the kitchen. Vince was left standing in the doorway, unfolding his earlier discarded shirt.
Later that night, in the Velvet Onion, Vince grinned and danced, happily showing off his new favourite shirt, with on its left sleeve, right over a now invisible tear, a carefully stitched elbow patch.
